DEVELOPING CONFIDENCE AND CHARACTER
LAS CRUCES JUNIOR COTILLION
The Las Cruces Junior Cotillion is designed for seventh and eighth grade boys and girls. Members receive quality instruction in dance as well as the necessary social graces and manners that will serve them for a lifetime.
The Las Cruces Junior Cotillion has been providing training in character education, modern manners, ballroom dance and dining etiquette since 1956. We provide four carefully planned and supervised dances during each school year, two in the Fall and two in the Spring. The dances are held at a local ballroom. A DJ provides appropriate music and snacks are offered during the break. The Board Members will chaperone all dances. Parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to accompany Board Members by volunteering to chaperone the dances.
The dress code for the dances require that girls wear a semi-formal outfit and dress shoes. Boys are required to wear a dress shirt, dress pants, necktie/bow tie and dress shoes. Specific dress code and behavior guidelines may be found in the Dress Code and Behavior Expectations section under member information. Please note that parents will be called to either rectify the dress code violation or take their child home if they cannot comply with the dress code.
Membership in Junior Cotillion is limited to 50 boys and 50 girls from each grade level. Space in the ballroom is limited to the total number of members. Members are not permitted to bring a guest to scheduled dances.
Membership dues are $125.00 for the year. This fee covers the cost for dance lessons and all dances. Attendance at one of the summer dance lesson sessions is required for all new members. Renewing members are welcome to attend the lessons as well.
The first 50 boys and 50 girls from each grade level to provide completed registration forms and payment will be accepted into the Las Cruces Junior Cotillion. An electronic correspondence (text or email) will be used to confirm receipt of your registration and payment. Your child’s membership will be denied only if the membership spaces are filled prior to receiving registration forms and payment.
